A polychrome painting depicting one of the ladies of the royal Shah Jahan Harem standing in a field of wildflowers, holding a pink lotus flower in her outstretched hands; red and green border with intricate gold floral decoration. 38 grams, 33.5 x 20.7cm (13 1/2 x 8"). From the Sidhu family collection; previously the property of the current owner?s late grandfather, chief scoutmaster for Kenya. The vendor writes 'The painting is from my grandfather, who has recently passed away. He was a prominent figure being chief scoutmaster for Kenya, migrating there from India in the 1940s, where he became charter president for the Lions club, all the art he purchased was in this time as he would travel back to his home village of Mohi, Punjab every year. My grandfather was headteacher all his life in Kenya, he has met the Queen on several occasions and was commended for his contribution to the scouts.'
