Pair of Italian Regency-Style Giltwood Eagle Sconces mid-20th century, with pierced bowknot crests, the eagles framed with sprays of wheat, set with spiral-carved candle arms and matching candle sockets, decorated with carved medallions, the backs with "Made in Italy" labels. h. 44-1/4", w. 12", d. 10-1/4" Dimensions h. 44-1/4", w. 12", d. 10-1/4" Condition Report **On the appliques, five of the sprays of wheat are lacking, and most of the others have been (re)secured with an adhesive. There is a shrinkage crack to the Corinthian capital on one of the applique backplates. One eagle is lacking the tip of one of its tail feathers, and the bottom of the bell-form tassel on the other is lacking. Both examples exhibit scattered nicks, scratches and small losses to their painted giltwood surfaces - all of which is commensurate with material, age and use.
