Description Latin America, Mexico, ca. 1864 to 1867. A framed embroidered silk handkerchief from Emperor Maximilian I of Mexico's estate during the French Intervention period in Mexico 1864-1867. The ivory silk handkerchief is decorated with lovely embroidery including Maximilian's imperial monogram at the center surrounded by colorful floral flourishes of burgundy, peach, yello, green, and blue hues and a golden embroidered border. Emperor Maximilian (Spanish: Fernando Maximiliano Jose Maria de Habsburgo-Lorena; 6 July 1832 ? 19 June 1867) was the sole monarch of the Second Mexican Empire. Condition Report Light staining and discoloration on surface with a few small frays around the eges, but overall in very nice condition with all embroidery well presreved and colors slightly faded but still clear. The frame is in nice condition. The frame does not include glass.
