He learned an appreciation for English and American furniture while gaining woodworking and fabrication skills. Bruno received a BA from Louisiana State University and MA in English Literature from the University of New Orleans. He established his own workshop in 1987 where he focused primarily on furniture-making. Under the guidance of Kinsey Branham at the New Orleans Academy of Fine Arts, Bruno honed his skills in sculpture - a medium to which he has been almost exclusively devoted since 2000. He created his own foundry in 1996, located on Tchoupitoulas Street in New Orleans, where he casts bronze sculptures in limited editions of ten or less. Modeled from life when possible, Bruno's figurative works combine a sense of movement and modernity with classical methods. Ref.: "Bio." Thomas Bruno. www.thomasbruno.com. Accessed July 27, 2020.
