Part 17th Century oak press or court cupboard, of Westmorland type, the upper stage with planked roof over carved frieze with date 1689 and turned pendants, flanking two panelled cupboards enclosing a full-width shelf, the lower stage with a later ledge and long frieze drawer over a pair of period three-panel cupboard doors, the moulded end styles extending as supports, 140cm x 59cm x 163cm high Condition: Most of upper section is fully period, iron handles and hinges are old replacements. Internal full-width shelf is of later date as are front-to-back supports for the shelf which are screwed into the sides of the upper section. Lower section has later ledge, upper mouldings to side panels have been screwed in place. Upper drawer is of later date and has a secretaire drop front. Remainder appears to be period but lower doors are locked so interior contents not guaranteed and sold as seen. Cracking to upper stage left hand door (lower left corner) Old grain splits and losses to top moulding of left side panel. Plugged reapirs to same moulding on right side. Cracking to left hand upright beside secretyaire drawer, otherwise generally in sound structural condition but sold as seen. **General condition consistent with age
