Rare 17th Century and later inlaid oak food hutch or cheese cupboard, of West Country type, the inlaid frieze with central tablet dated 1620, over a pair of ventilated cabinet doors with double spindle turned uprights within inlaid sides and a pair of carved figural terms of an Atlante and Caryatid, the sides with pierced scroll decoration, 86cm x 27cm x 79cm high Condition: Back of boards are 18th century floor boards suggesting that the piece was originally built-in. Slots to roof cupboards suggest it may have had a pediment. Several later timbers to carcase including strip beneath inlaid frieze and strips to either side of doors. Pine base is also of later date but principal timbers are period. Loss to lower left edge of inlaid frieze and loss to upper right corner of left cupboard door. Loss to top corner of left hand inlaid strip to left cupboard door. Sold as seen. **General condition consistent with age
