A boar-tusk netsuke with a spider
By Mitsuaki, dated 1824The tusk with a spider carved in low relief, inscribed with barely perceptible characters ichi ni san (one two three); signed in characters arranged in four columns to imitate a Chinese poem Seki-shu Isariyama no fumoto Tochigi no ju Minamoto no Mitsuaki Bunsei shichi kinoe-saru jugatsu kichinichi (Minamoto no Mitsuaki, resident of Tochigi at the foot of Mount Isari in Iwami Province, on a lucky day in the tenth month of the seventh, kino-saru, year of Bunsei [1824]). 10.4cm (4 1/16in).
