Probably Iwami Province, early 19th centuryThe tusk of relatively shallow curvature, the upper part lacquered and etched in low relief with the first line of the poem Song Guo sicang (Bidding Farewell to Official Guo) by the Tang-dynasty poet Wang Changling; inscribed Hakuya. 11.6cm (4 5/8in).
