A tayagasan (Indian ironwood) three-case inro and ojime with a tiger
The inro by the Seiyodo family, Iwami Province, 19th century; the ojime, 18th or 19th centuryCarved in relief, the front with a tiger beside an overhanging pine tree, looking around to the right, its forepaws resting in a cooling stream, its eyes and claws inlaid with gilt metal, the reverse carved in relief with stylised mon, the lowest case with a removable sliding box for containing a seal and ink, signed Seiyodo chokoku, 9.8cm (3 7/8in); the ojime of lacquered peach stone, unsigned, 1.6cm (5/8in).
