A delightful Japanese lacquer curio/tea cabinet with rare porcelain inlays. The inlays are in different shapes with very well done individual underglaze blue vine and floral designs. The extensive copper and silver-on-copper fittings, both inside and out, have very high quality engraved patterns allover. The top, front, side and interiors have extensive gold lacquer patterns of birds, butterflies and foliage. Highly decorated shelves, sliding doors, and drawers fill the interior. There are two small professionally restored cracks in one door panel, and some appropriate wear from age and use. Provenance: From a well-known Southern Virginia Estate, purchased c. 1960a??s.
