Japanese painting is signed Toyotomi Ikkeisai (which was a pseudonym of the Japanese artist Ukita Ikkei [1795-1859]). Ukita called himself a descendent of the Toyotomi family; the family of the great 16th century daimyo Toyotomi Hideyoshi, considered Japana??s great unifier. The seal is the artista??s painting seal, using a variant character of sai after Ikkei. The seal is read from center top to bottom, then the right side and left side. Some creasing but painting is in fine condition.
