A Chinese jade carving dating from the 18th to 19th centuries. The carving depicts a scholar with a hulu gourd on his back and reclining on a leaf. It is accompanied by a wooden stand. Dimensions are: 1 3/8 inches tall X 2 3/8 inches wide, 3.5 cm tall X 6 cm wide. All measurements are approximate. Condition: Small chip to the leaf. Provenance: From a Dr. Wang in Northern California. Dr. Wang is a retired professor from the school of business at California State University.
