A pair of Chinese famille rose porcelain octagonal vases. The vases feature handles of guardian lion heads with engaged rings. The body of the vase is decorated with roundels and fish. The base is decorated with lotus tracery, Shou characters, and bats. The neck has a banana leaf boarder with quatrefoils with scenes of butterflies, flowers, fruit, and birds. The rim of the vase has a ruyi border. Dimensions are: 22 3/4 in. tall X 8 1/2 in. wide; 57.8 cm tall X 21.6 cm wide. All measurements are approximate. Condition: Chip to the rim of one vase, the other has cracks to the base and glaze pops to the foot. Provenance: From Mr. Kung in Vancouver, Canada, inherited from his father, who acquired this item in Hong Kong and had it shipped to Canada before the 1970s.
