A pair of Chinese porcelain famille rose moonflasks dating from the Republic period. The moonflasks depict courtly scenes of women writing in a garden and reading inside. They are on a white ground with black and gold-toned lotus tracery. There is a 4-character mark on the bottom of each, and each has a Greek key and ruyi border at the mouth. Dimensions are: 8 1/2 inches tall X 5 1/2 inches wide, 21.6 cm tall X 14 cm wide. All measurements are approximate. Condition: Both are in good condition. Provenance: From Mr. Kung in Vancouver, Canada, inherited from his father, who acquired this item in Hong Kong and had it shipped to Canada before the 1970s.
