A Chinese famille rose eggshell porcelain bowl dating from the Republic period. The sides of the bowl are straight and there is a 4-character mark on the bottom. The interior depicts nine 5-clawed dragons chasing flaming pearls and a Greek key border. The exterior depicts 4 phoenixes with flowers in fruit and leaf tracery with a ruyi border and a Greek key foot. Dimensions are: 2 1/4 inches tall X 8 1/2 inches wide, 5.7 cm tall X 21.6 cm wide. All measurements are approximate. Condition: It is in good condition with very minor wear to the glaze. Provenance: From the estate of Mr. Kwok Woon Kun, formerly a shareholder of Wing On Company, a well-known department store group in Hong Kong and Shanghai. This collection was collected in Hong Kong prior to Mr. Kwok's death in 1969. His collection was shipped to Canada in 1981 and was inherited by Mr. Kwok' s daughter and grandson.
