A Chinese black-ground dragon robe with skirt dating from the 19th century. The robe depicts 4 dragon roundels above a wave and rock motif among Buddhist emblems and auspicious symbols. Dimensions are: 60 inches tall X 91 inches wide, 152.4 cm tall X 231.1 cm wide. All measurements are approximate. Condition: Significant wear to threads. Provenance: From Mr. Lee in Houston, Texas. Items were collected by his father over 30 years ago. The Metropolitan Museum of Art has a collection of Qing Dynasty embroidered dragon robes, with A similar robe under accession number 17.82.2 (fig. 1).
