A Chinese blue-ground dragon robe dating from the 19th century. The top of the robe features 4 dragons. The skirt features dragon roundels with dragons flying above waves and a rock motif. Dimensions are: 52 inches tall X 84 inches wide; 132.1 cm tall X 213.4 cm wide. All measurements are approximate. Condition: The top has loose threads and some wear. Provenance: From Mr. Weeks in Dallas, Texas, collected by his grandfather over 50 years ago. The Metropolitan Museum of Art has a collection of Qing Dynasty embroidered dragon robes, with A similar robe under accession number 17.82.2 (fig. 1).
