CUP AND SAUCER WITH "SCHWARZLOT" PAINTING
Ansbach, ca. 1800.
Painted in "schwarzlot" in a gold-framed medallion. Depiction of an allegoric scene, and of a monument, inscribed "Ich suche die Sonne des Friedens" with a soldier on guard. The bottom with a coat of arms in "schwarzlot". Press mark WE and W (Carl August Weidel).
H 6.4 cm, D 13.7 cm.
The coat of arms is that of the Abbot Candidus Hemmerlein, the last Abbot of the Cistercian Monastery in Longheim near Bamberg from 1791 bis 1803.

Konische Form bemalt mit Schwarzlotszenen in goldumrahmten Medaillons. Darstellung einer allegorischen Szene, bzw. einem Denkmal, beschriftet ?Ich suche die Sonne des Friedens” mit wachehaltendem Soldat. Auf der Unterseite ein Wappen in Schwarzlot. Pressmarke WE bzw. W (Carl August Weidel).
H 6,4 cm, D 13,7 cm.
Das Wappen ist das des Abtes Candidus Hemmerlein, der letzte Abt des Zisterzienserklosters in Longheim bei Bamberg von 1791 bis 1803.
