Richard Marquis (American, b.1945), Art Glass Vessel1977, blown multi-color swirl glass with applied clear handles, rough cut pontil, signed and dated. 3 x 6 x 4.25 in. Richard Marquis received his BA and MA from the University of California, Berkeley. He was awarded the first of three Fulbright-Hayes Fellowships in 1969, which allows him to live in Venice, Italy and work at the Venini Fabbrica in Murano. His work has been exhibited extensively throughout his career, included in solo and group shows at such prominent venues as Museum of Glass, Tacoma, Washington; Toledo Museum of Art, Ohio; Bellevue Arts Museum, Washington; Carnegie Museum of Art, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York.
