Nobel Prize Laureate Selman Waksman TLS on Scientific Contributions
Fantastic typed letter signed on Rutgars University letterhead, 8.5" x 11". Dated "September 2, 1971", and signed by Selman Waksman "Selman A. Waksman". Near fine with paper clip rust stains along the top edge.
Nobel laureate, Waksman was awarded the Nobel Prize in 1952. In the award speech, Waksman was called "one of the greatest benefactors to mankind," as the result of the discovery of streptomycin. He was also noted for his contributions as an inventor,?biochemist and microbiologist whose research into the decomposition of organisms that live in soil enabled the discovery of not only streptomycin but also several other antibiotics, In this letter, Selman writes to another in the field of scientific?exploration who lived for 17 years in Angola and made important contributions to the study of the geography and ethnography of equatorial Africa.
