An elegant 1p document signed by 33rd U.S. President Harry S. Truman (1884-1972) as "Harry S Truman" at lower right. Signed in Washington, D.C. on March 9, 1950. Countersigned by J. Howard McGrath (1903-1966), U.S. Attorney General, as "J. Howard McGrath" at lower left. Partly printed and partly handwritten on paper, with an intact gold foil seal affixed at lower left, with loss to a single point. Else near fine. Matted and archivally framed behind museum-quality UV ray filtering glass with document separators in a handsome ebonized frame. Not examined out of the frame. Sight size: 17" x 14." Overall size: 23.25" x 20.25" x 1.25." Accompanied by a signed PSA/DNA Letter of Authenticity dated January 25, 2018.
President Truman's appointment of Delmas Carl Hill (1906-1989) to the bench of the United States Court for the District of Kansas was confirmed by the Senate and Hill was duly commissioned in March 1950. Hill served as a District Judge between 1950-1957, and he acted as Chief Judge there between 1957-1961.
