Queen Victoria grants a Free Pardon to Charles Nettlefield, who was “on the 30th day of June 1862 convicted of Housebreaking, and sentenced to twelve months Imprisonment for the same.”This pardon, granted a mere seventeen months after the death of Victoria’s beloved Prince Albert, is demonstrative of a shift towards a more benevolent reign on the part of the Queen.
