Edo period (1615-1868), 18th/19th centuryComprising a large Nara-school mokkogata tsuchimeji plate hammered on the surface and decorated with two geese and fishing nets in takabori, the dew drops inlaid in gold; a Saotome-school oval sukashi tsuba carved as a chrysanthemum, the hitsu-ana formed as matsukawabishi (pine-bark lozenges), obscurely signed; a circular iron tsuchimeji plate pierced with Mount Fuji and inlaid with shogi game pieces in shakudo and gold, the surface carved with parallel lines, fitted with a shakudo rim; an iron tsuchimeji plate decorated with a bow and two quivers, the reverse with arrows in iro-e takazogan, signed Kunihiro; an oval iron tsuchimeji plate with a hammered rim and decorated on the surface with matsukawabishi in gold nunomezogan and with a two circular reservoirs applied with a fly and an ant in shakudo and copper; an oval copper plate worked on the surface and pierced with holes to resemble insect-eaten wood 4 1/8in (10.5cm) high, the largest
