A sapphire glazed and gold gilted flowers dish late Yuan or early Ming period. There are five protrusions at the back of the dish with no reign marks. Dimensions: 3cm height, 21cm diameter, 13.5cm foot diameterProvenance: Acquired by a French collector in 1918 from another collector, thence by descent. Condition: Good. Note: This piece can be easily mistaken for a Qing Dynasty ceramic, but the blue used here is the same type of cobalt pigment used for blue and white pieces in Yuan and early Ming Dynasties. There are not many Yuan or early Ming dynasty pieces surviving today that are highly prized and preserved so well.
