銅鎏金二世班禪喇嘛羅桑益西像清 十七/十八世紀Recognizable by his distinctive long face and tall Gelug hat, the bronze depicts the Second Panchen Lama, Lobzang Yeshe (1663-1737). Compare another portrait sold at Bonhams, New York, 14 March 2017, lot 3295. Yeshe was given the title Erdini, meaning 'treasure', by the Kangxi emperor and possessed by all Panchen Lamas thereafter. The dense gilding, thick, plain robes, and double cushion base are common stylistic features of Qing-dynasty portrait bronzes.
