喇嘛銅像西藏 約十四世紀Contrasting a great many lama portraits with idealized, generic features, this is an enigmatic sculpture of an elderly lama with a superb sense of realism. The lama's wrinkled throat, sagging jowls, and nuanced eyebags betray his seniority, as well as the artist's skill. The lama wears a fitted monastic shirt under a warm meditation cloak billowing at his elbows. Shoes cover his feet as he leans forward seated in a more relaxed posture better suited to his constitution. Provenance Collection of Mrs W. Van Hoogstraten-Fetlaar, the Netherlands Christie's, Paris, 21 December 2009, lot 398
