Description A LACQUERED AND GILT WOOD WRITING BOX, SUZURIBAKO

Rectangular section with rounded corners, the whole internal and external surface finely decorated with gold and silver in maki-e on a 'pear-skin' (nashi-ji) ground, the outside of the lid with five horses in the landscape in the light of a moon partially covered by clouds, the inside of the lid with a sprig of herbs and flowers, rectangular tray for the brushes, the housing for the ink stone and the metal water dropper (suiteki) in the shape of a fan with incised floral decoration.
