He illustrated several books including the Folio Society's Jane Eyre before going to Vietnam with Save the Children in 1967, where he recorded the plight of displaced children, his artworks of which were exhibited at the AIA Gallery the following year. He later went on to lecture at various art colleges before taking up landscape painting in the 1980's.
