Description A Khorasan bronze weight in the form of a lion, Iran, 12th century, cast in the form of a reclining lion with forepaws outstretched (now lost), ears pricked forward, the lion's head with fish-scale motif mane, his back with a cartouche filled to split-palmette motifs, to his chest and forelegs a cartouche containing birds, the sides of his body decorated with kufic inscription cartouches, bird motifs, crescent motifs and scrolls, open to base, 14cm. long x 9.7cm. high Provenance: Acquired during the 1960’s - 1970’s in Iran, in the UK since 1981
