Description A LACQUER KOBAKO WITH LEAPING CARP
Japan, 19th century
Of rectangular form variously decorated in hiramaki-e, takamaki-e and nashiji on a black lacquer ground embellished with mother-ofpearl, showing a leaping carp with a mother-of-pearl inlaid visible eye on the cover and crashing waves in silver on the side of both the box and the cover. The inside and underside with dense nashiji.
SIZE 4.4 x 16.5 x 9.2 cm
Condition: Near-mint condition with only very minimal wear and scattered dents only to the sides.
