A Ko-Imari large blue-and-white charger
Edo period (1615-1868), 1660-1680Painted in 'Kraak' style, the centre well decorated with a deer about to drink from a pond, in front of clumps of lotus, flowering chrysanthemums and other plants, a butterfly hovering above, surrounded by a broad border containing four panels of stylised flower stalks alternating with four panels enclosing auspicious motifs among scrollwork, separated by ornamental tassels; the reverse plain. 54cm (21 1/8in) diam.
