Edo period (1615-1868), early 18th centuryDecorated in typical Kakiemon palette of red, blue, green, black, and yellow enamels with a karako (Chinese boy) in a blue smock seated on the trunk of a pine tree looking up at the chrysanthemum branches extending halfway round the shoulder of the vessel, the rim with three repeated stylised blue blossoms interwoven among karakusa ('Chinese grasses'), supported on three circular stubby feet; with a wood storage box. 9cm x 13cm (3?in x 5 1/8in).
