A Ko-imari vase in the form of a leaping carp
Edo period (1615-1868), 17th/18th centuryPainted in underglaze blue and pale-red and gilt, leaping upwards with its mouth wide open taking in air, supported on its curling tail set on a high rectangular base representing a wave-lashed rock, the details of the base painted in green and black. 32cm (12?in) high.
