A pair of Imari beaker vases
Edo period (1615-1868), late 17th/early 18th centuryEach of typical straight-sided form with flared mouth, painted with an elaborate design of variously shaped panels of birds and flowers beneath scrolled gilt panels of ho-o birds and with a band of stiff-leaves beneath; all in coloured enamels and gilding on a ground of scrolling foliage in underglaze blue. Each vase: 42.5cm (16?in) high. (2).
