Meiji era (1868-1912), late 19th/early 20th centuryWorked in gilt and silver wire, the lower section with turquoise-blue and mustard-yellow large shields enclosing dragons alternating with phoenixes beneath of bands of repeated foliate motifs and karakusa ('Chinese grasses) reserved on a speckled aventurine ground, the shoulder with further shaped cartouches enclosing foliate motifs on a dense overlapping chrysanthemum-blossom ground, raised on a circular foot; unsigned. 59cm (23?in) high.
