Ming Dynasty, 1368-1644 AD. A pair of glazed ceramic attendant figures, each comprising a rectangular base and inset panel with footwear, robed body with arms folded to the chest, one supporting a rosette bowl and the other a small casket, female head with the hair drawn up and secured by a pelleted band, male head with tall pillar-box cap and gilt image of a bird to the front. 17.6 kg total, 73-77cm including stand (28 3/4 - 30 1/4"). From a west country collection in the 1990s; previously in a Hong Kong collection. [2] Fine condition.
