A bronze figure of the Yellow Jambhala shown sitting on a lotus-flower dais with his left leg bent, a mongoose on his left thigh; his body fleshy with bracelets, arm rings, a collar and swag of beads to the neck, tall headdress with earrings; traces of red and yellow pigment. 1.3 kg total, 19.5cm (7 3/4"). From the Sidhu family collection; previously the property of the current owner’s late grandfather, Mr Havildar Sundar Singh Sidhu, who migrated from India to Kenya to become chief scoutmaster for Kenya in the 1950s, and later emigrated to London bringing with him his substantial collection, in the 1960s.
