Masukichi II (1852-1918) was the second son of Kawamoto Hansuke IV and was adopted in 1886 by MasukichiI (1831-1907) to lead his new trading company "Jikosha" in Tokyo. Masukichi II became one of the leading manufacturers of porcelain in Seto and gained a reputation for innovative glaze techniques, hence the attribution of the present item.
