A TALL JAPANESE SATSUMA INCENSE BURNER AND COVER, KORO MEIJI PERIOD, 19TH CENTURY The bulbous body raised on three shaped feet and with two tall handles to the sides, the lid topped with the large figure of a Chinese boy, karako, the sides with two large panels shaped as handscrolls painted with the scene of a man paying homage to a dignitary to one side, the nobleman surrounded by attendants fanning him; the reverse decorated with Immortals and children looking towards a goddess riding a dragon in the sky above, framed by bands of geometrical patterns in raised enamels, 40cm.
