Aspects of the cabinet-work on the present commode parallel those found on Thomas Chippendale's furniture at Dumfries House, Ayrshire, including the thin red wash visible to the underside of the commode, which is now regarded as a Chippendale characteristic and can be compared to a serpentine commode sold at Bonhams in The Contents of Glyn Cywarch, the Property of Lord Harlech, New Bond Street on 29 March 2017, lot 533.
