Description Toskana. Last quarter of the 14th century. Possibly Siena.
Gilt copper, coloured enamel, partially gilt silver, colourless glass. Wide twelve-foil foot, narrow cross frieze on the frame. The upper side of the foot with
engraved decoration reminiscent of tracery. Six-foil rising from the middle and merging
into the correspondingly shaped shaft via profiled cornice. Shaft with depiction of birds
under arched architecture in champlevé technique. On the sturdy modus with leaf-relief,
six silver rotuli under glass with depictions of the crucifixion showing the lance of
Longinus, the Virgin Mary, St. Peter and presumably St. Paul. On opposing sides two
crosses on golden ground, made of woven silver thread. The small bowl basket with
ornamental engravings in round medallions, upwards ending in smaller and larger pikes.
Smooth, conically rising bowl with gilt interior. On the underside of the foot an engraved
maltese cross and coat of arms with three hills and three feathers. Height 21cm.
Without detectable marks.
