己丑年(1829年) 五彩鴿鳩福狗紋鼻煙壺 《慎德堂製》款For a Daoguang-marked bottle of the same subject, see Moss, Graham and Tsang, A Treasury of Chinese Snuff Bottles, The Mary and George Bloch Collection, Vol. 6, Part 3, Arts of the Fire, pp.710-711, no. 1327, where the authors discuss this popular subject. A likely reason for this is given in the Tao Ya, no. 722: (The Daoguang Emperor) was fond of pigeons; his exalted concubine was fond of little dogs. That is why many of the dishes of the period have pictures of these two creatures.
