Shiva and Parvati sitting on a tiger skin surrounded by Ganesha, Brahma, Krishna and Kartikeya East or South India late 19th C. Pigments and gold on strong paper, mounted on light cardboard. Verso a printed, handwritten filled in register of transported goods probably by the East Indian Railway Company. Verso on the back board numbered ?V?. Isolated small stains. H 41, W 30,8 cm (sheet). Framed. Parvati is the wife of Shiva and embodies the faithful, loving wife. The divine couple has taken a seat on a tiger skin. On the left side they are accompanied by their son, the elephant-headed Ganesha, and Brahma, the god with four faces. On the right side you can see the cowherd Krishna and the god of war Kartikeya. Pigmentfarben und Gold auf festem Papier, kaschiert auf leichten Karton. Verso ein handschriftlich ausgefülltes, gedrucktes Register für bef?rderte Waren wohl der East Indian Railway Company. Verso auf der Rahmenrückwand ?V? num. Vereinzelt kl. Flecken. H. 41, B. 30,8 cm (Blattgr??e). Gerahmt. Parvati ist die Gattin des Shiva und verk?rpert die treue, liebende Ehefrau. Das g?ttliche Paar hat auf einem Tigerfell Platz genommen. Auf der linken Seite wohnt ihnen ihr Sohn, der elefantenk?pfige Ganesha, und Brahma, der Gott, dem K?pfe in alle Himmelsrichtungen wuchsen, bei. Auf der rechten Seite sieht man den Kuhhirten Krishna und den Kriegsgott Kartikeya. Provenienz: Privatsammlung Freiburg i.Br.
