A Chinese jade Bi-disk in the style of the western Han period, circa 1900 Bi-disk made of yellowish nephrite jade. Both sides are completely filled with archaic Lei-wen motifs. On closer inspection it is noticeable that the disc is divided into four fields, in the middle of each of which a finely carved Lei-wen tail is visible. Partially translucent. Impressive work. Intact. Diameter 11.2 cm. Provenance: From a South German family collection, acquired by the father in China in the 1920s and 1930s.
