A Chinese tiger-shaped jade pendant, circa 1900 The flat pendant has the shape of a tiger with open mouth. The central part of the body is decorated with small raised spiral. In the middle a small hole. Tigers were used as motif of jade carving in the 8th - 6th century B.C., then again at the beginning of the Han era. Bumped in two places at the bottom, otherwise intact. Length 14.4 cm. Carved in the style of the beginning of the Han-Dynasty (3rd - 2nd century B.C.). Provenance: From a South German family collection, acquired by the father in China in the 1920s and 1930s. Die zentrale K?rperpartie ist mit spiralf?rmigem Noppenmuster (Reiskorndekoration) dekoriert. Mittig eine kleine Durchbohrung, die der Aufh?ngung diente. Tiger waren als Motiv von Jade-Schnitzerei im 8. - 6. Jhdt. v. Chr. beliebt, dann erneut zu Beginn der Han-?ra. Unten an zwei Stellen besto?en, sonst intakt. L?nge 14,4 cm.
