See a dish very similarly painted with a pair of mandarin ducks swimming amidst lotus flower pads,?formerly in the collection of Sydney Laurence, sold in our London rooms, 6th November 2013, lot 10. See also three closely related examples, decorated with the same motif of mandarin and ducks, but arranged slightly differently, the first formerly from the T.Y. Chao collection, illustrated in Exhibition of Ch'ing Porcelain from the Wah Kwong Collection, Hong Kong, 1973, cat. no. 90, and later sold in these rooms,?19th May 1987, lot 268, and a pair?sold in these rooms, 8th April 2011, lot 3108.Modelled on the Chenghua prototypes, the design of mandarin ducks and lotus was revived and became particularly popular in the Qing dynasty. See two doucai?pairs of dishes?formerly in the collections of Edward T. Chow and T.Y. Chao respectively, sold in these?rooms, 19th May 1981, lot 550 and 19th May 1987, lot 268.
