The finely potted ovoid body rising to a short tapered neck, one side of the body with a loop handle and the other with an elegant S-shaped spout, brightly enamelled in the famille-rose palette overall with an elaborate lotus spray issuing scrolling multi-coloured leaves bearing stylised lotus blossoms, a bat enamelled in blue with green eyes and outstretched wings hovers above a gilt Shou character on either side of which two pink bats with green eyes hold tassels adorned with gilt swastikas all against a pale celadon ground, a border of ruyi blooms and trefoil motifs encircling the neck decorated with a ’classic’ scroll in gold on a red ground, the foot encircled with an upright petal border, the recessed turquoise base inscribed in red with a six-character seal mark against a white cartouche, the domed cover similarly decorated and surmounted by a bud finial decorated with a floret, the interior similarly enamelled turquoise.
