The well-potted ovoid body rising from a short straight foot to a waisted neck and flaring rim, the neck flanked by a pair of blue enamelled stylised dragon handles dotted with darker blue detail, the exterior of the ovoid body enamelled against the white ground with a continuous scene depicting quail resting on stylised rockwork and on the wing, detailed with sprays of floral blooms, including chrysanthemum, peony and cockscomb, and bamboo, at the foot of the rocks clusters of fungi, the reverse with roses borne on leafy stems issuing from rockwork, all under a turquoise-ground band decorated with auspicious emblems including the twin fish, infinite knot and a parasol, a band of ruyi at the neck rim, the neck similarly decorated with quail flying and lotus scrolls against a white ground, the glazed base inscribed in iron-red enamel with a six-character seal mark of Daoguang within a square.
