With shallow rounded sides rising to a flat everted rim, enamelled on the biscuit with a large medallion depicting two writhing scaly dragons soaring around a ’flaming pearl’ amidst flaming wisps and ruyi clouds, encircled by two incised lines, a band of flowering branches including prunus, lotus, chrysanthemum and peony on the cavetto, the flat everted rim with further incised lines, the exterior similarly decorated with four scaly dragons striding amidst flames and clouds in pursuit of ’flaming pearls’, all incised under the glaze in green and aubergine enamels against a pale yellow ground, the glazed white base with an underglaze blue six-character reign mark of Kangxi within a double circle but possibly of later date.
