Chinese carved Jade hanging vase adorned with taotie facade. The taotie mask may be totemic and can resemble protection or be a representation of the forces of nature. It has served as a warning against greediness, gluttony, sensuality, self-indulgence. Geometric cavity drifts upward into a vast neck eventually meeting the rectangular lid and geometric finial. Mirrored head looping handles connect two a large c-shaped hanger which attaches to a hook. Large elaborate frame accentuates the light celadon hue. Intricately incised design traverses the frontal fascia seamlessly, to create a precise beauty. Nephrite has mottled appearance with scattered inclusions along with a beautiful transparent chalk-white tone.
